Andrew CarnegieBorn: 1835 - Scotland
Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25, 1835, in Dunfermline, Scotland, and died on August 11, 1919, in Lenox, Massachusetts. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1848, where he began working as a telegrapher and soon made a name for himself in the railroad industry. Carnegie eventually built a vast fortune in the steel industry, founding Carnegie Steel Company, which he later sold to J.P. Morgan, making him one of the wealthiest men of his time. Known for his belief in philanthropy, he dedicated much of his later life to charitable causes, funding libraries, educational institutions, and cultural organizations across the United States and the world.
